Magic Millions Carnival 2027 runs from 6 to 18 January, with several dates now worth putting in the diary: twilight racing on 9 January, polo and showjumping on 10 January, and the main raceday on 16 January. A beachfront apartment gives the family somewhere to settle between outings, whether everyone follows the horses or only part of the group does.
At Viscount on the Beach, the first hour of the day does not need a booking. Every apartment faces the ocean, and the beachfront pathway and dunes are all that sit between the building and the sand. That gives a family or group a good counterweight to a busier January calendar: beach first, the day’s plans after.
Three January dates, two different venue trips
The official carnival page confirms the 6–18 January window. Its linked event sites and race programme now give more detail:
- Saturday 9 January: twilight racing at the Gold Coast Turf Club, including The Wave and Sunlight races.
- Sunday 10 January: Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo and Showjumping at Doug Jennings Park, Main Beach.
- Saturday 16 January: the main Gold Coast raceday, including the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas.
The polo organiser’s event information includes a family general-admission option and children’s activities. It also advertises complimentary shuttles from The Star Gold Coast and the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre to Doug Jennings Park. Check the current timetable, boarding points and ticket conditions before travelling. Those shuttles serve the polo outing; do not assume they also serve the Bundall racedays.
For the Turf Club, check the venue’s raceday information and arrange transport around the session you have booked. Bundall and Doug Jennings Park are separate journeys from Viscount. Neither is an extension of the walk south into Broadbeach.
A beach day can start outside the door
Viscount is on the Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach border, with the beach steps away. The 2-kilometre paved beachfront path begins at the building and runs south to Kurrawa and central Broadbeach in about 15 minutes. It is a car-free option for a morning walk, a pram outing or a meal in Broadbeach before returning along the water.
North, Cavill Avenue is about 20 minutes on foot. Florida Gardens tram station is 500 metres away, useful for moving along the coast when current services suit the plan. Use the Translink journey planner for the complete trip to any connecting shuttle, including the return.
Make the group accommodation do its job
Every apartment has a private ocean-view balcony, full kitchen, washing machine and tumble dryer, separate living and dining space, and two bathrooms. Those are modest but important advantages during a multi-day summer stay. Beach clothes dry at home. Breakfast does not require a queue. One person can sleep while another is making coffee for an early departure.
The three-bedroom ocean-view apartment sleeps six, with a maximum of seven using a hired rollaway bed, while the two-bedroom options sleep four. The Premier Two Bedroom Ocean View Courtyard is on the ground floor with a private courtyard and is wheelchair accessible. All apartments are air-conditioned and have ceiling or circulation fans.
Outside the apartment, the ocean-facing outdoor pool is heated to 27°C year-round. The rooftop barbecue area and sun deck look out to the water, and the garden barbecue is the easier option for families. They are useful for the unplanned sections of a trip, when the best choice is to stop moving for a while.
