[Back to the blog](/experience/blog/) # Australian Volleyball Schools Cup 2026: a beachfront base for families > The Australian Volleyball Schools Cup runs across the Gold Coast from 6 to 12 December 2026. Stay at Viscount for a kitchen, laundry and beach time around your school's match schedule, with transport planned for each venue. --- A week of school volleyball brings more than a bag of playing kit. There are breakfasts before an early start, uniforms to wash and siblings who would quite like a turn at choosing the afternoon. The **Australian Volleyball Schools Cup runs from Sunday 6 to Saturday 12 December 2026** on the Gold Coast. For parents and supporters travelling to watch, Viscount gives the week a beachfront address and a full apartment to come back to. The [organiser's key dates](https://avsc.volleyball.org.au/event-information/key-dates/) confirm the December window. Schools manage their own competition and travel arrangements, so check those before making a separate family booking. A parent's beach stay and a school's team itinerary may have different arrival days, venues and responsibilities. ## Start with the venue, then plan the trip This is a tournament across several venues. The [Schools Cup venue list](https://avsc.volleyball.org.au/venues/) includes the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre and Carrara Indoor Sport Stadium at Carrara, Coomera Indoor Sport Centre and Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium. The [event schedule](https://avsc.volleyball.org.au/) also names A.B. Paterson as a match location. Check the final allocation for your division rather than assuming every day will be at Carrara. The organiser lists **16 November** for venue allocations by division and **23 November** for the draft draw. Use those releases to arrange a car, taxi or school-approved transport for the actual venue and reporting time. The [official draw and results page](https://avsc.volleyball.org.au/draw/) is the place to return as the competition approaches. Viscount sits on the Surfers Paradise side of the Broadbeach border. It is a beach base between outings, with a separate journey to the indoor venues. If two children are playing in different divisions, check both schedules before deciding who needs the car each day. ## An apartment for the people coming to watch Every apartment has a full kitchen, washing machine, tumble dryer and two bathrooms. Breakfast can happen at the dining table, drinks can stay cold in the full-size fridge, and yesterday's kit can go through the wash while someone makes dinner. A dishwasher helps when everyone would rather sit down than tidy up. The Superior 3 Bedroom Ocean View sleeps six, with a maximum of seven including a hired rollaway for an additional charge. The Two Bedroom Ocean View sleeps four, with a maximum of five using a hired rollaway. The ground-floor Premier Two Bedroom Ocean View Courtyard sleeps a maximum of four and has its own courtyard and private BBQ. Choose for your travelling family rather than trying to fit a whole team into one apartment. There is **one free on-site parking space per apartment**, reserved in advance, with **1.95-metre clearance**. Check a larger vehicle or roof box before arrival. Check-in is from 2 pm to 11 pm and check-out is by 10 am, so allow for those times around the school's commitments. ## Give the rest of the family some beach time The beachfront pathway and dunes are all that sit between Viscount and the sand. Every apartment faces the ocean, with a private balcony and separate living and dining space. Back at the building, the outdoor pool is heated to 27°C year-round, and there are garden and rooftop BBQ areas. Central Broadbeach is about 15 minutes south on foot along the paved beachfront path. Cavill Avenue is about 20 minutes north. That leaves a sibling, grandparent or parent staying behind with somewhere to walk without needing the tournament car.
